As you are aware by now, the Constitution Party made headlines when we achieved ballot access in North Carolina this month. The Associated Press picked up the announcement made by the North Carolina Board of Elections, and several publicans, including US News and World Report, carried the news. Never before has the party been on the ballot in North Carolina. More breaking news was West Virginia's Don Blankenship contacting the Constitution Party leaders there and expressing his interest in running for the US Senate seat in that state. He had known of the Constitution Party but had never looked into it until after news of our success in North Carolina was carried by the news media.
In addition to that, Wisconsin does have ballot access, but to maintain ballot access, the state party needs to run at least one statewide candidate for office this year and that candidate needs to garner at least one percent of the vote cast in that race. To be placed on the ballot a candidate(s) needs to gather 2,000 signatures of Wisconsin residents. Failure to accomplish that will result in the loss of ballot access and then require getting 10,000 signatures to regain ballot access in 2020. It is clear that is simply not an option for us. The national party is therefor helping to gather signatures to get both Andrew Zuelke and Terry Larson ballot-qualified. Andrew is running for State Treasurer and Terry for State Attorney General.
Thanks to the help and hard work of our volunteers, and especially the help of Nick Sumbles and Mark Gabriel, the party is now gathering signatures in Wisconsin to get our candidates on that ballot there. We have now surpassed the 1,800 mark but still need to gather 700 more signatures by the end of the week to ensure that we get 2,000 valid signatures and make the June 1st deadline. Then, beginning June 1st, we hope to bring Nick to West Virginia to help Don Blankenship gain ballot access in that state. Nick has been asking for just $2.00 a signature which in all honesty is an incredible bargain, but he is willing to do so because he is dedicated to the cause of Liberty and is doing all he can to help build the party.
All of this is going to cost money and this is where I am once again asking for your immediate assistance. I further ask that you forward this email on to family members and friends of like mind. Share this news article with them which was picked up by the Associated Press and carried by numerous publications including US News and World Report magazine.
You can donate to our ballot access drive online, or mail your check to "Constitution Party, PO Box 1782, Lancaster, PA 17608." Please act on this immediately. The deadlines for ballot access are fast approaching and we simply need to meet those deadlines.
Working to gain ballot access in the various states has done more to bring the Constitution Party to the attention of the general public than any other activity that we have pursued. The first question I am asked about the party is: "In how many states are you on the ballot?" To them, we are not a real party if we are on the ballot in just a smattering of states. That is now changing and as we obtain ballot access in more and more states and get increased attention from the news media, people begin to understand that we are serious about building a viable political organization. It is something they want to be a part of and more and more people are beginning to take note of our progress, and yes, they are also beginning to donate to the party.
This is going to require financial sacrifice by each of us, but it is a sacrifice we can not afford to shun. Again, I ask that you take action on this effort now and donate whatever you can without delay.
For God, Family, and Country,
