Christmas Greetings from the National Chairman

This Christmas Season, we would do well to recognize the wisdom of the Founding Fathers in giving us the republican form of self-governance that they did. As Benjamin Franklin was quoted as saying: “We gave you a republic if you can keep it.” We have so much to be thankful for, but in addition to that, we have a heavy weight on our shoulders to continue to foster and make popular among ourselves and our peers those very ideals that our Founding Father’s gave us. Do your part by making the smallest of gestures to everyone you see. We are all familiar with the old adage “The pen is mightier than the sword.” There is a reason why this piece of ancient wisdom has survived the years. Language has immense power. The manipulation of language has been one of the greatest achievements of Social Marxists. Their twisting of words and their meanings is what has given them free reign to deconstruct the ancient traditions and values that have allowed us to build the most prosperous and liberal civilization in the entirety of human history.

Remind everyone that it is OK to say “Merry Christmas” instead of the politically correct “Happy Holidays.” Call your local school boards, ask about their Christmas programs, and remind them that the United States is still a majority Christian country, and that our tax dollars, which are used to fund these schools, MUST be used to teach the traditional values of OUR civilization. Each time you wish a passerby a Merry Christmas, it may seem like a small gesture, but you will certainly bring a moment of joy to their day by doing so, while at the same time tactfully reminding them that we are a Christian society. Any time you witness a person being unjustly persecuted in social media or in the news for having uttered a phrase that the Cultural Marxists of the Progressive Left deem “hate speech,” kindly remind people that the accused is fully entitled to the assumption of innocence until proven guilty, and even should they be “guilty” of having said something offensive, that they are fully entitled to the free expression of their opinions, whether others like them or not.

We conservatives tend to be an independent lot, and it is easy for us to assume that others are easily motivated toward self-reliance. We often forget that human nature is such that individuals will willingly sacrifice their own well-being in order to not be ostracized by the tribe. Not everyone is as independence-minded as a traditional, conservative American. Let us remember that our actions may provide the guidance needed to help others choose to hold our values as important. We never know when another person may be at a critical juncture in their life, and a gesture that you may deem to be insignificant, such as wishing a stranger a Merry Christmas, may be the key to helping that person decide not to abandon our traditions in the face of mounting societal pressure to do so.

The faithful and consistent financial support from our members over the past year has enabled us to make progress in building our party to the degree that we have. I sincerely hope that your support will continue into the coming year. Those of you who have not yet pledged your support to the Howard Phillips Legacy Society undertaking, I would sincerely encourage you to do so. This support has been vital in building the party. We look to apply our founding principles, and in the future intend to offer products and services that will prove to be vital in funding the party’s mission in restoring the Constitution to its rightful place in our society. We invite your constituents to get involved by sending their thoughts, comments, concerns, and suggestions about the direction you would like to see the party go with regards to the services that we may provide. The unrivaled prosperity of our great Nation was founded on the free exchange of value on the open market, and in this spirit, we are looking into ways and means to promote the resurgence of the free market. We look to the new generation of Americans, who are possessed of such creative and productive potential to be the economic engine that will build the might and influence of our party, so that we may pursue more effectively our goals of restoring sovereignty to the People of the United States, that we may once again be the Guiding Light of the West, and lead our civilization back to the path of Constitutional Rule. You can access the application by clicking here or if you simply wish to support us in our effort for ballot access or a general donation you can click here.

Once again, my sincere thanks to each of you for your untiring support. Know that it is deeply appreciated. May you experience the Spirit of Christmas in your lives during this time of the year, but also help to remind Americans of who we are, and where we come from, and may you enjoy a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

My sincere thanks to Nicholas Kontgas, a new member of the party, for his input into this newsletter. You will be hearing more of him in the coming months. Nicholas has lived in China for the past 11 years and has had first-hand experience with the destructive power that Social Marxism has on a society.

Merry Christmas to you all,

National Chairman

Constitution Party Bucks National Trend

Constitution Party Bucks National Trend

According to Richard Winger, publisher of Ballot Access News, the 2018 vote tallies for minor parties was the lowest ever since 1982. What is most interesting is that the Constitution Party is only one of two parties that seemed to buck that trend.

Along with the Libertarian Party, we were the only two parties (including the Republican and Democratic Parties) that increased their voter registration between 2016 and 2018.

Based on the information that I have been able to obtain, voter registration for the Constitution Party grew from 92,483 to 106,468 in that period for an increase of 13,985 or 15.12%. Of particular interest, those totals only include the 19 states where political party registration numbers are available. Many states do not track voter registration by party, so in actuality, our support base is much higher.

The election of Jerry Jones as County Commission in Greene County, North Carolina has caused no small stir in the political world. We received word that an individual who owns both a radio and TV station in that state was elated to learn of our victory and has offered to help build the state party. The fact that we won a countywide race as a new party in that state was viewed by many as a most remarkable achievement.

Jerry Jones was not the only candidate that did well in North Carolina - three other Constitution Party candidates running for local office likewise did exceptionally well. What was most revealing is that as I totaled the votes cast in those races, the vote counts for the Republican candidates came to 49% and votes for the Democrat candidates came to 22%, while the total vote counts for the Constitution Party candidates came to nearly 29%. Our candidates outpolled the Democratic candidates by nearly seven percentage points.

Voter registration in those counties was pretty evenly divided between Republican and Democrat voters, and both counties included a significant black population. In summary, the Constitution Party drew heavily from both demographic groups registered as Democratic and black voters. It was those votes that brought victory to Jerry Jones, and that gave the high vote percentages that the other CP candidates received.

From the analysis, it seemed quite clear that Blue Collar Reagan Democrats are quite willing to vote for a third choice, but not willing to vote for Republican candidates. Without a careful and detailed review, I would not have discovered that. In all four of those counties, there were only a total of 19 voters registered as Constitution Party.

North Carolina was not the only state where the party held its own. We also won an election in Michigan, but I do not yet have the details on that. We maintained ballot status in all ten states where we ran candidates. The Constitution Party was the only minor party that did not lose ballot status in the states where we ran candidates for office.

Three key states where we maintained ballot status were Michigan, Missouri, and Wisconsin. Several state-wide candidates in Michigan polled enough votes to retain ballot access in that state. In Wisconsin, both of our state-wide candidates, Terry Larson and Andrew Zuelke, easily won enough votes to keep the party on the ballot there. Andrew received more than double the required percentage that was needed. Also of interest, Wisconsin is the one state where the Libertarian Party did lose ballot status. Congratulations to the CP leadership in both Michigan and Wisconsin for their successes.

Of particular significance was our maintaining ballot status in the state of Missouri. Our candidate for State Auditor, Jacob Luetkemeyer, pulled off a stunning victory. He faced a total of six candidates and came in 4th, just 3,000 votes behind the Libertarian candidate. To maintain ballot status in that state, Jacob needed to win 2% of the vote which he barely did.

Unofficial totals show he garnered 48,534 votes or 2.04%. The Libertarian Party candidate got 2.14% which also was very close. With a total of six candidates on the ballot, that was a super accomplishment. The Missouri Party went all out in support of Jacob, and they succeeded in pulling off that success story. We are most fortunate to have the leadership that we do have in that state. They made that victory possible. Click on the link here to review the vote tallies that we have been able to secure thus far for all of our candidates.

Our November General Election success was possible because of three key elements.

First, the annual state assessment fees that were paid by the various states exceeded our projected budget amount for state assessments by over $1,400.00, and we still have the month of December ahead of us.

Secondly, donations for the Howard Phillips Legacy Society Newsletter has brought in over $16,000.00 thus far through the end of November. If you are not yet receiving the monthly copy of that newsletter, I will encourage you to click on the link to sign up for it.

In time, we believe the newsletter supporters will become the major source of revenue for the party. Peter Gemma, the editor of the newsletter, is a talented, well-known writer. His articles continue to draw new people to our website.

The third source of major funding for the party’s growth has been donations made specifically for ballot access. At the end of November, we are within $359.00 of exceeding our annual projected budget for that category. We are most grateful to those of you who have lent your financial support for ballot access and other areas of donations to the party. It has been your consistent and generous donations that have enabled us to gain ballot status in Hawaii, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and New Mexico this year. I do not recall another time when the party gained ballot status in so many states in an off-year election as what we did in 2018. Know that your donations and the dedication of so many good and hard-working state party leaders have made this possible.

Our goal for 2019 is to continue to work for ballot access in as many states as possible and to run as many candidates for local non-partisan races as we can. Election to those local government positions is where we can gain exposure and credibility. It also provides excellent experience and training for advancement to higher officers in the future.

Once again, my sincere thanks to each of you for your loyal and consistent financial support.

Sweet, Sweet Victory in North Carolina!

Our candidate for county commissioner in Green County North Carolina, Jerry Jones, was elected to office on November 6th. His election is remarkable since we had barely gotten on the ballot in that state for the first time ever, this year. The race was a two-way race and Jerry received 3,232 votes compared to his opponent who received 2,908. For our candidate to have won with 52.64% of the vote is remarkable. Not only that, but we had other candidates who also did remarkably well in their races nearly all of which were three-way races.

In the few short months that the party has been on the ballot in North Carolina, that state now places 10th of all the states in Constitution Party registered voters. The leadership in that state has been remarkable.

Overall, the party did well this election. We were the only minor party that maintained ballot position in all of the states where we ran candidates. This will enable us to focus on ballot access in other states in the next two years. All of the other parties did lose ballot access in some states which means that they have to requalify to regain ballot status. The thanks for the party’s accomplishment goes to the state leaders who ran candidates for statewide office and garnered the required vote percentage to retain our ballot status.

In all, we had candidates running for office in ten states. By adding up the top statewide race vote totals in each state (or in two cases the top US House race vote totals), our candidates received a combined total of over 380,000 votes. Those numbers will increase as the final vote tallies are tabulated in each of the states. Paul Venable is in the process of putting all those candidates and their vote totals on the national website. Take some time to go onto the website and check those numbers out. A number of our candidates did exceptionally well.

It is interesting to note that Richard Winger reported that the vote total received this year by minor parties was the lowest vote total since 1982. In view of this, the Constitution party did well to hold its own.

Paul Venable, the gentleman that maintains our national website, reported to me that the number of hits on our national website hit an all-time high on Monday, November 5th and that record was exceeded the following day. The vast majority of those who accessed the website spent most of their time on the party platform. That was very encouraging news and is an indication that it is our platform that draws people to the party. Paul does a remarkable job with the website.

In further recent news, I learned from Richard Winger of Ballot Access News that only the Constitution and Libertarians Parties gained in voter registration since the 2016 Election. All other parties, including the Republican and Democratic Parties, declined in voter registration. That signifies that our message does appeal to the public. We simply need to find better ways to communicate to the public that there is a party that supports and promotes their values.

My sincere thanks to so many of you who donated to the party to make all of this possible. Your support is deeply appreciated. Without your financial support, we could never have achieved ballot access in North Carolina or New Mexico and we would not have been able to secure the required 2,000 signatures per candidate to get Terry Larson and Andrew Zuelke on the ballot in Wisconsin for Attorney General and State Treasurer respectively.

I look forward to great things happening in 2019 and 2020.

Message About Wisconsin Campaigns

Message from the National CP on the
Andrew Zuelke, Terry Larson and Thomas Harland WI Campaigns

The Constitution Party is working to place itself on the map in Wisconsin. The party has a number of candidates on the November General Election Ballot and they need your help. Terry Larson is a candidate for Attorney General and Andrew Zuelke is a candidate for State Treasurer. Both of these races are for statewide office. Steer people you know to go to their websites which are:

Terry Larson – terrylarson.org

Andrew Zuelke – wisconsintreasurerdefender.wordpress.com

The Wisconsin Party worked hard in conjunction with the National Party to get the 2,000 plus signatures of registered voters to place these two men on the ballot. Each of them is in a three-way race and to secure ballot status for the 2020 General Election one or both of these candidates needs to receive just one percent of the statewide vote for these offices. This is where your support is key. We need your help.

Please forward this message on to family and friends of like mind and encourage them to vote for these candidates. Then, follow up with a personal phone call to them. In turn, ask them to forward the email on to others of like mind too. This will be a key to our maintaining ballot status in Wisconsin.

In addition to these two candidates, Thomas Harland is a Constitution Party candidate for State Assembly District 64 (Kenosha area). If you have family or friends who live in this area, please ask them to vote for him. Tell them there is NO Republican on the ballot for this race. It is Mr. Harland and the Democrat, so voting for Thomas won’t “split the vote” in any way. Have family and friends visit his website which is www.harland4staterep.com

Here is the layout of District 64 https://maps.legis.wisconsin.gov/?asm=64&single=y

One other exciting thing has been brought to our attention in the past two weeks. We received word from Richard Winger of Ballot Access News that there were only two political parties whose voter registration nationwide increased from 2016 to 2018. This included the Democratic and Republican Parties, both of which lost numbers in voter registration. The only two parties to gain in voter registration totals were the Constitution and Libertarian Parties. We were most pleased to learn that. Mr. Winger is considered one of the best authorities on third parties in the nation.

Activity on our national website, www.constitutionparty.com, has increased dramatically and the pages on which people spend the most time is the party platform. If you have not yet taken the time to check out the website, please do so.

Once again, thanks for your help in this critical election that is coming up Tuesday.

Another Victory in North Carolina

So many things have been happening of late that it is hard to know where to begin.

On August 22nd, Judge Louise Flanagan ruled that the names of three Constitution Party candidates must be placed on the North Carolina November General Election ballot. All three candidates had run for local office in the major party primaries earlier in the year but had lost their races. As soon as the Constitution Party gained ballot access, all three filed to run for the same office under the Constitution Party banner. The North Carolina law states that candidates who lose in the primary election cannot then run as an Independent or as a write-in candidate for the same office in the November General Election. However, it does not prevent those candidates from seeking that same office on another party ticket.

To prevent them from running under the Constitution Party, the state legislature hurriedly passed a “sore loser law” after the three candidates had already filed to run on the CP ticket. Judge Flanagan ruled that the law could not be enforced retroactively and therefore the three candidates will be on the November ballot. One of those candidates is currently serving as county commissioner. Needless to say, this was a major victory for the party. In all, there will be eight Constitution Party candidates on the November ballot. The judge's ruling was picked up by the Associated Press and was subsequently picked up by other national and local news media. This type of publicity is great for the party.

Now that the Constitution Party is recognized as an official party in the state, North Carolina residents can register as CP voters. Although the option of choosing the party affiliation is not yet printed on the voter registration forms, citizens nonetheless are able to write in “Constitution Party” when registering. The state updates the voter registration weekly and on the first report made available on June 16th, the Constitution Party number stood at 29. The Constitution Party numbers are still small, but the latest report of August 25th shows the party now has more registered voters in 24 of the 100 counties than does the Green Party. In Anson County, the Constitution Party registered voters outnumber those of the Libertarian Party. Once the actual voter registration forms are printed, our numbers should increase even more rapidly. The party is now less than 200 registered voters shy of surpassing the number of Green Party registered voters in that state. This is all very encouraging news.

Nation-wide the number of registered Constitution Party members stands at 99,102. Based on our past growth, I suspect that we will break the 100,000 mark by the end of September. Many states do not provide the option to register by party and others only record that information for parties that are formally recognized in their state as official parties. In fact, at this point, there are only 19 states that officially tally votes for the Constitution Party. In view of this, the actual number of registered Constitution Party voters is considerably higher than 100,000, but we simply have to include those numbers that are available to us.

Exciting news is also forthcoming from the state of West Virginia where Don Blankenship is seeking to be placed on the November General Election ballot for the office of US Senator on the Constitution Party ticket. He had run in the Republican Primary and was leading in the polls until the establishment, and even President Trump, sent out word to, “vote for anyone but Blankenship.” He has since submitted over 11,000 signatures so he has exceeded the approximately 7,000 valid signatures needed to place him on the ballot. However, the West Virginia Secretary of State has declined to place his name on the ballot due to a “sore loser law” on the state’s books. The law is very vague and somewhat discriminatory. Therefore, Don’s attorneys have challenged the law and the case is now before the West Virginia Supreme Court. Don feels that they have a very strong case as well as some very talented attorneys on the case and he feels good about winning the lawsuit. His running on the Constitution Party has been given wide coverage nationally and in the entire state of West Virginia. In interviews, Don comes across as well informed on the issues, very level headed and professional. Here is a link to a recent news release issued by Blankenship.

In the recent August 21st Wyoming Republican Primary, three candidates ended up splintering the conservative vote thereby giving the nomination to a very liberal candidate. This has worked out very much in favor of our Constitution Party candidate, Rex Rammell, who foresaw this result happening and switched from the Republican Party to the Constitution Party in May. Being the Constitution Party candidate ensured him of being on the November ballot. As such, he is the only remaining conservative candidate running for the office of governor. He is being given widespread coverage by the news media throughout the state. Rex did a live radio interview with the most popular talk radio show station, “KGAB,” in Cheyenne. It is worth taking the time to watch here. Rex presents himself very well.

All of this has been made possible because of the loyalty and financial donations of so many of our supporters. Without that continued support, much of our progress would never have been possible. Please continue your support as your time and financial means allow. Donations of any amount are very much needed and deeply appreciated. You may donate online at www.constitutionparty.com or you may mail your donation to the Constitution Party PO Box 1782, Lancaster, PA 17608.

With deep appreciation,

New Mexico Qualifies for Ballot Access

Yet another state has gained ballot access for the Constitution Party. The New Mexico Secretary of State confirmed in mid-July that the Constitution Party had submitted enough valid signatures to qualify the party for ballot access in that state for 2018 and 2020. A total of 2,565 valid signatures were required. What is most remarkable about our success there is that over 4,000 signatures were gathered in only five weeks. The key individuals in that effort were our new state chairman of New Mexico, J.W. Fakes and Kent Miller, state chairman of Arizona. Kent traveled to Albuquerque and spent nearly five weeks gathering signatures every day. He is an extremely effective petitioner. With New Mexico now on the ballot, Kent has returned to Arizona and is beginning the signature gathering effort in that state. Achieving ballot access for 2020 in Arizona will be a huge achievement for the party. With it’s 11 electoral votes, Arizona has the third highest number of electoral votes in the West. Only Washington and California have more.

August 1st is the signature deadline for Don Blankenship to turn in his petitions in the state of West Virginia. As of August 19th he had submitted over 11,400 signatures, more than 7,000 of which were deemed valid, thereby surpassing the required number of 6,000 valid signatures. His supporters are continuing to gather signatures until the deadline and the final total is expected to exceed the 12,000 mark.

As anticipated, the West Virginia Secretary of State has declined to accept his application to run for the U.S. Senate seat on the Constitution Party due to a sore loser law that took effect June 5th. What is interesting is that the SOS did place on the Mountain Party ticket (state affiliate of the Green party) both a Democrat and a Republican who lost their primary races. Therefore, Don is preparing to file a lawsuit to require the state to place his name on the ballot on the Constitution Party ticket. He expects to win that court case. Should the courts rule against him, Don could still run as a write-in candidate. He is well enough known in the state that as such he would poll a significant number of votes. Don is getting wide publicity on TV, radio and in newspapers across the state. He comes across very well in the media interviews.

In North Carolina, the Secretary of State has declined to place three of our candidates on the November ballot due to a sore loser law that became law after those candidates had already filed for office. That issue too is being challenged in the courts. We will keep you posted on both developments

Yet another exciting bit of information is that our nationwide voter registration totals are nearing the 100,000 mark. The latest numbers that I have stand at 98,925, We expect to exceed the 100,000 mark in the next couple of months.

Our increasing success has been in large measure due to the faithful and consistent financial support that we have received from so many of you. Year-to-date, donations to the party are up over 44% from the same time period of last year. It is this type of support that has enabled us to accomplish what we have. As national chairman, I cannot thank you enough. Your donations, however large or small, are critical to our growing success. As mentioned in previous newsletters, you can go to our national website www.constitutionparty.com to make a donation or you can simply send payment by check to The Constitution Party, P.O. Box 1782, Lancaster, PA 17608. Likewise, we encourage you to continue to share our emails with like-minded family and friends.

We are making a concerted effort to provide a state by state listing on the national website of all the candidates that are running for office on the Constitution Party banner this year. If you become aware of someone running for office that is not on the list, please advise us so that those candidates can be included in the listing.

Once again, my sincere thanks to each of you,

Victory in NM is at Hand!

Email_Header_600p.png

Thanks to your generosity and efforts we are within Victory’s reach in our ballot access drive in New Mexico. As of Wednesday evening, June 20th our supporters had gathered a total of 3,479 signatures. Over 500 of those had been collected by volunteers. That leaves us just 521 signatures left to secure in the next eight days to reach our goal of 4,000 total signatures. That is totally doable and I am confident that with your continued financial report, we can reach our goal.

Your response to our plea for donations to make this all happen has been most rewarding and gratifying. It is truly amazing what a small group of very dedicated people working together can accomplish. In my email that went out Sunday evening, I explained that a donor had pledged to match dollar for dollar up to $1,000.00 any donations that were received for ballot access in New Mexico. As of this evening, a total of $704.00 has been received. This leaves us just $296.00 dollars short of our goal. If you have not yet donated please do so immediately to push us over the top. Login to www.constitutionparty.com and contribute whatever you are able to. We need to reach that goal before Wednesday, June 27th. The petition deadline for submitting the signatures to the NM Secretary of State is June 28th. Your support is most gratefully appreciated.

In addition to this, more exciting news has come from North Carolina. Upon learning that the Constitution Party had achieved ballot access, at least one currently serving county commissioner has switched his voter registration from Republican to the Constitution Party. More details will follow shortly. Rumor is that other currently serving officers plan to do the same.

Furthermore, three Republicans who lost their races in the recent North Carolina primary have switched to the Constitution Party and have filed to run for the same office in the November General Election. Upon learning that the Constitution Party had gained ballot access, both the NC Republican-controlled state house and state senate passed a “Sore Loser” law to prevent any candidates who lost in the primary from running for the same office in that year on another party’s ticket. The Law was to take effect immediately upon passage. However, Governor Cooper who is a democrat vetoed the bill late Friday night. The Constitution Party’s State Convention was held on Saturday and those three candidates were nominated to run for office at that meeting. Early on Monday morning, those candidates all filed for office one day before the state legislature was able to override the governor’s veto.

In total, ten candidates filed to run on the Constitution Party ticket including David Fallin who filed to run for US Congress in NC Congressional District Seven. Fallin is a high school and college referee and recently ran for county commissioner in Pender County. He lost that race by a mere 30 votes. He will make a great candidate, but we need people to donate to his campaign to help cover a hefty filing fee of $1,740.00. He needs an additional $1,490.00 to reach that requirement. The filing fee must be paid by Tuesday, June 26th.

Please donate what you are able to help with David Fallin's filing fee.

Help us to make history in North Carolina. A year ago no one would have ever imagined that the Constitution Party would become a ballot-qualified party there and have the impact that it already has had in that state. It is your financial support that has made this all possible.

Another State on the Verge of Ballot Qualification

Email_Header_600p.png

Yes, you read that correctly!  Just this morning, a donor has offered to match all donations, dollar for dollar, up to $1,000.00 to secure ballot access in the state of New Mexico. Our supporters have been working around the clock for the past several weeks to get 2,565 valid signatures of registered voters by the deadline of June 28th.  As of last night, they had secured 2,838 signatures, but need 4,000 to make sure we have enough to offset any signatures that may be invalidated by the New Mexico Secretary of State’s office. That means we need to average 97 signatures per day for the next 12 days to reach our goal. Achieving ballot status in New Mexico will put us on the ballot in 16 states with a total of 142 electoral votes of the 270 needed to win the presidential office. That is 24 more electoral votes than we had at the start of 2018.

Please help us to make this goal a reality.  We need your donation of $5.00, $10.00, $15.00, $20.00, $25.00, $50.00, $100.00 or whatever you can, to reach this goal. Go on line to www.constitutionparty.com and select the “ballot access” option for your donation.  You may also mail your donation directly to the Constitution Party at PO Box 1782 Lancaster, PA 17608. It is urgent that you make your donation without delay. Time is of the essence.

Our progress this year thus far has been incredible. As reported earlier, we gained ballot access in North Carolina, the first victory ever in that state.  The party received national news coverage for that achievement. The reaction of the Republican-controlled state house and senate was to quickly pass a sore loser law which would prevent losing candidates in the recent primary from filing to run for the same office under another party in this fall's general election.  The bill was to take effect immediately upon the signature of the governor or in 10 days if he failed to sign it. The governor vetoed the bill late Friday night which was the 10th day.

The Constitution Party State Nominating Convention was held the following day, and so, the governor’s veto of the bill allowed those candidates to be nominated by the Constitution Party. They will then file for office early on Monday the 18th before the General Assembly can override the governor’s veto. In all, 10 candidates were nominated by the North Carolina party: one for the US Congress, two for the state senate, three for the state house, three for county commission and one for local sheriff. Needless to say, this has caused quite a stir in North Carolina. More detail of this will be shared as it becomes available.

The party experienced yet another victory in Wisconsin on Friday, June 1st.  We had two candidates file for low profile state-wide office.  Each candidate needed the signatures of 2,000 Wisconsin residents to be placed on the November ballot. By polling just one percent of the votes cast in the November General Election for those offices, they would then secure ballot position for the party in 2020. It was a terrific scramble to get the needed signatures to qualify, but both candidates made it. Both offices have only three candidates on the November ballot, the Rep, Dem, and CP, so our chances of being ballot-qualified in 2020 are extremely good.  We also have a candidate who qualified to run for the state legislature.

Thanks to the financial support of so many of our party members and supporters, these accomplishments were all made possible. As national chairman, I can not thank you enough. Please continue your support at this critical point of time in our growth and progress.

On the Verge of Success in Wisconsin

Email_Header_600p.png

As you are aware by now, the Constitution Party made headlines when we achieved ballot access in North Carolina this month. The Associated Press picked up the announcement made by the North Carolina Board of Elections, and several publicans, including US News and World Report, carried the news. Never before has the party been on the ballot in North Carolina. More breaking news was West Virginia's Don Blankenship contacting the Constitution Party leaders there and expressing his interest in running for the US Senate seat in that state. He had known of the Constitution Party but had never looked into it until after news of our success in North Carolina was carried by the news media.

In addition to that, Wisconsin does have ballot access, but to maintain ballot access, the state party needs to run at least one statewide candidate for office this year and that candidate needs to garner at least one percent of the vote cast in that race. To be placed on the ballot a candidate(s) needs to gather 2,000 signatures of Wisconsin residents. Failure to accomplish that will result in the loss of ballot access and then require getting 10,000 signatures to regain ballot access in 2020. It is clear that is simply not an option for us. The national party is therefor helping to gather signatures to get both Andrew Zuelke and Terry Larson ballot-qualified. Andrew is running for State Treasurer and Terry for State Attorney General.

Thanks to the help and hard work of our volunteers, and especially the help of Nick Sumbles and Mark Gabriel, the party is now gathering signatures in Wisconsin to get our candidates on that ballot there. We have now surpassed the 1,800 mark but still need to gather 700 more signatures by the end of the week to ensure that we get 2,000 valid signatures and make the June 1st deadline. Then, beginning June 1st, we hope to bring Nick to West Virginia to help Don Blankenship gain ballot access in that state. Nick has been asking for just $2.00 a signature which in all honesty is an incredible bargain, but he is willing to do so because he is dedicated to the cause of Liberty and is doing all he can to help build the party.

All of this is going to cost money and this is where I am once again asking for your immediate assistance. I further ask that you forward this email on to family members and friends of like mind. Share this news article with them which was picked up by the Associated Press and carried by numerous publications including US News and World Report magazine.

You can donate to our ballot access drive online, or mail your check to "Constitution Party, PO Box 1782, Lancaster, PA 17608." Please act on this immediately. The deadlines for ballot access are fast approaching and we simply need to meet those deadlines.

Working to gain ballot access in the various states has done more to bring the Constitution Party to the attention of the general public than any other activity that we have pursued. The first question I am asked about the party is: "In how many states are you on the ballot?" To them, we are not a real party if we are on the ballot in just a smattering of states. That is now changing and as we obtain ballot access in more and more states and get increased attention from the news media, people begin to understand that we are serious about building a viable political organization. It is something they want to be a part of and more and more people are beginning to take note of our progress, and yes, they are also beginning to donate to the party.

This is going to require financial sacrifice by each of us, but it is a sacrifice we can not afford to shun. Again, I ask that you take action on this effort now and donate whatever you can without delay.

Incredible Victory in North Carolina!

We received great news this week! The Constitution Party effort to gain ballot access in North Carolina exceeded the required number of registered voter signatures to qualify for ballot access in 2018 and 2020. News of our success was picked up by U.S. News and World Report, a major newspaper in Raleigh, North Carolina, and other papers in that state. In addition, a popular radio talk show host interviewed our North Carolina state chairman, Al Pisano. The interview was deemed a tremendous success and was well received by the listening audience.

Obtaining ballot access in Hawaii, and now North Carolina has brought more favorable publicity to the national party than any other activity that we have undertaken, especially in an off-year election. It conveys to the public that we are not only serious about building a viable political party but also successful in doing so. Being recognized for our success in North Carolina by U.S, News and World Report is something I would never have thought possible.

What the North Carolina party leadership and their group of volunteers accomplished is nothing short of amazing. In all, they turned into the county clerks a total of over 16,300 signatures. Of that number, 15,938 have been processed thus far and 12,537 have been determined as valid. The validity rate was 78.6% which is most remarkable. That number gives us a cushion of over 600 signatures over the 11,925 valid signatures that are required. All of this was accomplished since mid-December which is a very short time frame.

This is the first time ever that the Constitution Party has qualified for ballot access in that state. Our sincere thanks go out to our state party leaders, Al Pisano and Kevin Hayes, for their incredible leadership in this undertaking. In addition, our sincere thanks are extended to Nicholas Sumbles, our sole paid petitioner who collected 10,000 signatures, and to the numerous volunteers who collected the remaining 6,000 plus signatures. When we first undertook this effort, no one really expected us to accomplish what was considered unattainable, especially in such a short period of time.

Last but not least, our sincere thanks go out to our many supporters who donated month after month to the ballot access effort. Without your steady flow of monthly donations, we could never have accomplished what we did. Your faithful donations made it possible to keep Nicholas out in the field gathering signatures week after week. Know that your financial support is deeply appreciated. Give yourselves a good pat on the back!

Success in North Carolina has now made it possible for us to focus on yet another state and that state is Wisconsin. As many of you know, we already have ballot access in that state. However, in order to maintain ballot access for 2020, we need to run at least one statewide candidate this year and that candidate needs to garner at least one percent of the vote cast for that office. That is very doable and Wisconsin hopes to field two such statewide candidates this year. In order to do that we have one serious hurdle that we must overcome. The state requires that to run for any statewide office, a candidate must collect the signatures of 2,000 Wisconsin residents that are at least 18 years old. They do not need to be registered voters, but simply Wisconsin residents.

Andrew Zuelke is gathering signatures to get on the ballot for State Treasurer and Terry Larson is seeking to be on the ballot for Attorney General. They and party members have been gathering signatures. Andrew has collected over 500 signatures and Terry has gathered 367. Volunteers continue to gather more, but I have been so preoccupied with gaining ballot access in North Carolina that I have not been able to follow up on the signature gathering effort in Wisconsin as I would have liked to.

This is where we again ask for your help. We have just two weeks left before the June 1st deadline to turn in the signatures. I am therefore asking that if you live in Wisconsin, or have like-minded family or friends in that state, you contact Andrew Zuelke at [email protected] or call him at 920-748-7296. He can provide a petition for you to sign or direct you to someone who can get your signature. Time is of the essence; we need your help if we are to succeed.

Failure to get the required number of signatures to get them on the ballot will result in the party losing ballot access for 2020. If ballot access is lost, the party will need to gather 10,000 signatures to regain ballot access in 2020. Therefore, it is simply critical that we secure the balance of needed signatures to put both men on the ballot this year. Please act immediately as time is of the essence.

If you are able to support the ballot access effort financially, please do so by going to our website and using the Ballot Access donation option, or you may donate by check using this printable form. Every donation of $5.00, $10,00, $15.00, $20.00, $25.00, $50.00, $100.00 or more is deeply appreciated. Each dollar donated this year goes much further as the closer we get to 2020, the cost of getting each signature goes up.
