Just 2,500 More Signatures Needed in North Carolina!!!

Dear Patriot:

I continue to be amazed and humbled by the financial support we are receiving in our effort to gain first time ever ballot access in the state of North Carolina. Your generous support has exceeded my fondest hopes. I received a text from Kevin Hays last evening that they have surpassed the 13,000 signature mark! This leaves us just 2,500 signatures short of the number of signatures that we will need to reach the 12,000 valid signature mark to qualify North Carolina for ballot position. Our validity rate is holding up at 78.5% which is remarkable for having so many in-experienced volunteers gathering signatures. Our goal is to complete the signature drive next week. This will give the party leaders adequate time to get the signature petitions to the county clerks for verification and then to the NC Secretary of State's office by the deadline of June 1st. There are a number of candidates who will file to run on the Constitution Party there once the word is confirmed by the NC Secretary of State that we have achieved ballot access.

I have been contacted by professional signature gatherers offering to gather signatures for $3.00 and $3.50 per signature plus other expenses. They have expressed their amazement that we have expended just over $14,000.00 to secure the 13,000 signatures that we have gotten since mid-December. That is an average cost per signature of less than $1.10. They can not comprehend that it could be done for less than $3.00 or even $3.50 per signature. The key to our success has been the dedication of our one professional and many loyal volunteer petitioners to the cause of Liberty. Our people understand that to retain our liberty is a personal matter and can only be accomplished through dedication and personal sacrifice on their part. They are committed to giving whatever personal and financial sacrifice that may require. To see such dedication and perseverance on the part of so many people has been a most gratifying and heartwarming experience.

To successfully complete our ballot petition drive we need to raise a final $2,500.00 immediately so once again I am appealing for your financial assistance. Last weekend we held our semi-annual National Committee meeting in Denver, CO. Joe Miller who also addressed our group last fall in Pittsburgh was our keynote speaker. He was accompanied by his wife Kathleen. During his time at the meeting, he emphasized, again and again, the critical need to gain ballot access in all 50 states. He was noticeably impressed by what we have accomplished thus far this year in Hawaii and now in North Carolina and also New Mexico where we have gathered 500 signatures on a volunteer basis. We need just 2,565 valid signatures to qualify in that state.

Again, I plead with you to give what you are able to. Then share this message with family and friends of like mind. Your sharing this message with others is paying off as we continue to receive donations from people who have never donated to the party before. If just 210 donors gave $13.00 each, that would put us over the top. I can not thank you enough for the effort you are making to help us make history in North Carolina. North Carolina Ballot Progress Approaching 9,000 Signatures

Thanks to your financial support, we are now over the 8,000 signature mark in North Carolina! We should surpass 9,000 signatures by this coming weekend. Kevin Hays is doing an incredible job of not only coordinating the petition drive but he has also been successful in getting a growing number of volunteers to help gather signatures. Of the signatures gathered thus far, volunteers have secured over 3,000. That is a remarkable $6,000.00 savings to the party. Gaining ballot access in that state will be a landmark achievement. If the validity rate of 83% holds up, we should be able to secure the required 12,000 valid signatures with a total of about 15,000. We continue to average getting about 1,200 signatures a week in spite of the inclement weather being experienced in that state. At this rate, we should be able to complete the signature drive by mid-May, but we have our work cut out for us since that is the day we have set for ourselves to turn our signatures into the counties. Once verified by the county clerks, we then have to deliver them to the North Carolina Secretary of State on June 1st.

Besides Nicholas’ work, we have volunteers working gun shows every weekend and the number of volunteers grows each week. The goal of the party leaders is to gather signatures in all 100 counties in the state. At this point, they have succeeded in getting signatures from 97 of the counties. This is a most remarkable feat and has been possible only because of the increased number of volunteers who are gathering signatures. However, in order to reach our goal we are going to need additional financial assistance from our supporters. We are paying Nicholas $2.00 a signature which is a very reasonable rate compared to what other professional signature gathers have quoted us.

This is where we need your help and we need it very urgently. We must keep the funds coming in so that we can keep Nicholas there. A donor from North Carolina has offered to match dollar for dollar any funds that we raise up to $4,900.00. Due to the generosity of our supporters, we have now qualified for the matching funds, but we are still going to need additional donations to reach our 15,000 signature goal. Thanks to Your Support, Big Things Are Happening

Just last week we received word from the Hawaii Secretary of State that the Constitution Party is now officially recognized as a ballot-qualified party in that state. This is the first time ever that the Constitution Party has achieved ballot access in Hawaii in a midterm election. The party completed the signature drive in mid-February, but by state law, the petition could be challenged within 20 business days of when the final petitions were submitted to the state for verification. That deadline was March 7th and the following day the Hawaii Secretary of State confirmed that no one had challenged our petition thereby qualifying the party for ballot status.

Other big news for the party is our ballot petitioning effort going on in North Carolina. Gaining ballot access in that state will be a landmark achievement. Going into this weekend we have surpassed the 6,000 signature mark. If the validity rate of 83% holds up we should be able to secure the required 12,000 valid signatures with a total of about 15,000. At this rate, we should be able to complete the signature drive before the end of April....a full month before the deadline. Since completing the petitioning in Hawaii Nicholas Sumbles has been gathering signatures in North Carolina.

Thanks to Your Support, Big Things Are Happening

So many things have been happening in the past few weeks that it has been a challenge to keep up with everything. First of all, the Texas Constitution Party recently received a donation in the amount of $7,000.00 toward the rental of a booth at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) to be held in National Harbor, MD, just outside of Washington, DC, on Feb 21st through the 24th. The national party has agreed to provide the literature and other material for the event. This will give the party exposure to the attendees there that we have not had in years. We are grateful to the Texas Party for making this possible.

Secondly, the recent anonymous $1,500.00 donation to assist us in getting ballot access in Hawaii has paid off big time. We turned in nearly double the number of required signature on January 19th to the Hawaii Secretary of State. The following week we were notified that the required minimum of 750 valid signatures was met. In all, including the $1,500.00 donation, a total of over $3,500.00 was received from our supporters that made this possible. This is the first time ever that the party has qualified for ballot position in Hawaii in a non-presidential election year, and will enable us to run candidates for office there this year. Only two states, Alaska and South Dakota, gave the Castle/Bradley ticket a higher percentage of the presidential vote than did Hawaii, and only 14 states garnered more votes for the Constitution Party ticket than did Hawaii. This all came as a surprise to the party leaders. It is obvious that our message resonates in that state.

Our focus is now on the state of North Carolina where the required number of valid signatures was recently lowered from nearly 95,000 to 12,000. Our people in North Carolina wasted no time in getting the ballot petition drive going there. Since mid-December, the state party has been gathering signatures at one to three gun shows each weekend and have thus far gathered nearly 1,300 signatures. These signatures have all been collected on a volunteer basis which is most remarkable. The signatures need to be turned in to the respective counties for validation, then returned to the party leaders who in turn must deliver them to the North Carolina Secretary of State by the end of May of this year. Reaching that goal will not only put the party on the ballot in 2018 but will also qualify the party for ballot access in the 2020 Presidential Election.

The North Carolina party leaders have already raised a significant amount of funds to finance the ballot access effort. Among those efforts is a gun raffle that is being offered at $5.00 per ticket. You are welcome to participate in that raffle and can read all the details at the Constitution Party of North Carolina website. The last day of the raffle is February 3rd, so there is very little time left should you wish to participate. Achieving ballot access in North Carolina will be a historic first for the party. We have never before been on the ballot in that state.

What is more amazing is that because of the $1,500.00 anonymous donation we received to get us on the ballot in Hawaii, yet another donor (this time from North Carolina) has offered a matching donation, dollar for dollar, of up to $4,750.00 to get the party ballot-qualified in that state. This is an incredible offer that we simply cannot afford to pass up. If you have not taken the opportunity to financially assist us in our ballot access endeavor yet, I would earnestly encourage you to do so now. Our volunteer workers will continue to gather signatures on weekends at gun shows and other events, but to reach our 12,000 signature goal by the end of May it is going to require the help of professional signature gatherers. We need to raise the funds in the coming weeks to keep our momentum going. Achieving ballot access in Hawaii has opened up new doors for us and gaining ballot access in North Carolina will open up yet more windows of opportunity, so we simply must achieve success in North Carolina by the end of May.
