St. Charles is a city of 66,000 people in Missouri located near the Metro St. Louis area. Like all towns and municipalities in Missouri, St. Charles held local non-partisan elections on April 2, 2019. Even though these races are considered non-partisan races, voters are very much aware and often ask candidates about their party affiliation.
John Blazek, a member of the Constitution Party, ran for a seat on the City Council from Ward Nine. John placed second in a three-way race with a GOP and Democrat candidate. The final result showed the incumbent Republican received 44% of the vote; John Blazek 31%, and the Democrat garnered 24%. Write-in candidates received 1%.
Congratulations to John for running an exceptionally hard-hitting campaign and continuing to make an impact in his community. You see, John didn't quit on election day. He just switched gears! He is still asking questions and challenging the City Council members, but as a private citizen now through his campaign Facebook page. John has the attention of his community, and this is how we grow and build the party locally.
In other news, Michigan’s CP chairman, Bill Mohr reported that Gary Wnuk, who serves on the Alcona County Board of Commissioners, switched his registration from the Republican Party to the Constitution Party. Mr. Wnuk is now one of two Constitution Party County commissioners serving their communities. Jerry Jones, a former Democrat in North Carolina, won a seat as a CP candidate on the Greene County Commission in November 2018. Analysis of Jones’ race revealed that it was the conservative Democratic vote that gave Jones his victory. The tide is turning!
More election news out of North Carolina: Greg Holt has filed to run for Congress in the special election in North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District. Holt ran for Craven County Commissioner District One in 2018 and received 23% of the vote in a three-way race. He was just 29 votes shy of coming in second ahead of the Democratic candidate. He should do well in the upcoming Congressional race.

We Are Growing
During the past year, national voter registration has grown from 100,000 to just over 108,000 as of the end of March 2019. This number does not include voters that are considered inactive and includes purging of voter records which many states do periodically.
The blue state of New Jersey has now registered 11,697 voters, which is the second highest state in the nation. While in North Carolina, where the party has been ballot-qualified for less than a year, voter registration continues to increase weekly. Recently CP voter registration surpassed that of the Green Party in that state, and overall North Carolina stands in 8th place as having the most CP registered voters. The hard work of the leadership in New Jersey and North Carolina has produced amazing results and should be commended.
Ballot Access Needs
The year 2020 is fast approaching, and the party will be turning its attention to achieving ballot access in preparation for the 2020 presidential election. Ballot access is costly! The need for a steady flow of income during the upcoming months is critical to assure we reach our goal of raising $24,000 in the next eight months.
Your financial support in the past has been key to the party’s growth, and we know that we can only reach our ballot access goals with your continued support. Through the party’s website, you can donate directly to ballot access, or you may wish to contribute to your states’ annual assessment. Either way, those funds will help with the access effort.
Once again, I express my sincere gratitude for your ongoing financial support that has made possible the growth and progress we are experiencing in the party.
